Don’t wait for an opportunity to give back.
Create one.
I couldn’t find a way to give back as a hairstylist—
so I built it myself.
Now I’ll show you how to do the same.
This didn’t start as anything.
It started because something didn’t feel right.
After getting into the industry, I found myself surrounded by environments that didn’t feel aligned—
ego, competition, and a version of success that didn’t feel meaningful to me.
The more time I spent in those spaces, the more disconnected I felt.
I started questioning everything.
Including whether I even belonged in this industry.
And then I thought back to something I experienced years earlier—
working with people in shelters while I was in school.
That was the only time my work had ever felt real.
So I tried to find a way to do it again.
I searched for opportunities to give back…
and came up empty.
Nothing was clear.
Nothing was built for people like me.
What if I stopped waiting…
and just created it myself?
This isn’t just about volunteering.
It’s about learning how to:
— create your own opportunities
— use your skills to give back
— build something meaningful from nothing
You don’t need permission.
You don’t need a nonprofit.
You don’t need everything figured out.
You just need a starting point.
